Water damage is one of the most common emergencies throughout Toronto, which can occur in any building. From the small un-noticeable leaks to larger damage coming from rain, burst pipes or more damaging sewer backup, it can come because of an array of issues. In all cases, it is very important that you act immediately to start the water removal process so that it does not cause further damage and so that the remediation process can begin.
Depending on the severity of the water damage, various equipment and elements need to be used in order to ensure complete removal and extraction of water.
Category 1: The first category relates to water that is sanitary and could be safely consumed by a person. If it is ingested, touched or inhaled there is no danger of infection or illness. Sources of water for this category can include sprinkler systems or any kind of freshwater.
Category 2: For this category, the water can potentially be dangerous and can cause someone to get sick. This water contains microorganisms in high levels which can be enough to pose a threat. This type of water is called gray water.
Category 3: In this case, the water has been contaminated by dangerous pathogens and toxins. It includes also raw sewage also known as black water. It is not only harmful but it can be deadly as well. Remediation, in this case, must be completed or else it could be an ongoing risk.
